I have had 2 bass in my 1000 gallon outdoor pond. 1 of them I found lying on the floor next to the pond one day and the other has dissapeared completley. Is this becasue Bass jump? I am just wondering what is happening and if I will have this problem with all my fish. Thanks.

i have had bass in a pond a long time and never had one jump out, my ponds edge is ground level also, but one day i drained half of it , its 5.5' deep, forgot to fill it back up at night, woke up and there was a huge ass blue herring or herrin ? big ass bird by the pond, si i went down and counted the fish, i had sixteen the night before and the next day i had six.

yea my pond is 5 feet deep so I do not think that is the problem.

How's the water param's? Fish will try to escape bad water too.

bass do jump out of the water for food. any fish that eats bugs tends to jump out of the water for a quick bite. IMO

Unless there is plant cover or rock edges that the fish can hide, birds and raccoons may be the reason their missing.

Get one of the Flambeau blue heron decoys. Herons are pretty territorial and it seems to keep them away. the only problem is that it scares the little birds away that come in for a drink or to eat the bugs.

Motion activated spriklers, floating gator decoy(Never heard of them working though), or over active dog.
