So I have just recently grown out my first pair of bass from 1" to nearly 6" so I had there 30g free (other than some clown loach and dat grow out). I was in a shop yesterday and on the wall they had ask for azuls, which if I'm not mistaken are slightly blue when grown? They took me in the back and had for sale cichla piquiti. I picked one up just wanted to know if it is the same species as an azul under another name. See pic below just over 1"

Cichla piquiti is the binomial moniker for what the trade calls "Azul". They have blue finnage (of varying intensity) and grey body patterning as adults. quite the departure from most other cichla :)

Thank you sir, all new to me with cichla never been a fan until recently. Now I know what the hype is about. Can you confirm the bass I have is azul?
