Bass newbie question...

Ok so ive been reading and looking in the ID thread at pictures to try and get me up to speed with the various different species/types of PB - theres a load!...anyway after a difficult few days i now know a CICHLA INTERMEDIA ORINOCO is a intermedia pbass collected from the orinoco river correct??
so could someone explain what a PIQUITI SP BLUE AZUL is?

Most likely a Azul caught in the TUCUNARÉ river. Different collection points produce different variants of the same sp of bass.

ok when you say variants, are we talking shape/size etc or colour or both.?

Maybe ,maybe not but if we are going by variants them most likely yes .if its in the store most likely a normal azul

Being able to determine species is lightweight. Determining sp and their collection points is advanced cichla. Even I still cant determine all collection points.

Yeah no **** im not looking to become an advanced heavyweight, i just want to be at level were i can visually ID what each species looks like, i was having the arse confused off me with all the variants, but think ive finally got my head around it
