my friend has a pond with SM bass in it. and when we fish for them they will semm interested in the lure but then wont chase it. lol it looks like they are lazy. any tips?

what are you fishing, if there not biteing one thing throw alot at them, but for small pond fishing like that, just use some live nightcrawlers, fish always take them.

i think you'll have more luck with it texas rigged, but you can still fish it wacky

smallies are only active during the evening and very early in the morning chances if the fish do not seem interested in your bait it is because your not fishing the right time of the day try to get out there at one of the above times and you should have no problem catching fish

That isn't true. All the Small Mouth Bass I've ever caught were always caught during the regular day light hours and NOT in the early morning. the most productive time I've had small mouth bite was actually late morning to early afternoon for me.

Are you sure they are SMB? Not that it matters really but generally SMB are not stocked in ponds. They prefer clear, cold, running water.

What time of day are you fishing? I assume mid-day. If so throw a Yum frog in the watermelon battern. Rig it with a worm hook but no weight and slowly swim it throw the water. Bass cant resist.

In the evening throw a Tournament frog on the top. When you cast wait 20-30 seconds after it hits to start your retrieve. It is very difficult to set the hook with this bait though. Strikes are so explosive that you just want to rank right away when in actuality you want to wait a couple seconds until you feel the solid pull of the fish. Use a stout rod when doing this as one with alot of action wont allow for a solid hook set.

Another farm pond favorite of mine at any time is a bubblegum (hot pink) zoom trick worm. Again rig it on a normal worm hook and fish it like a soft plastic jerk bait with no weight.

Hell all this talk about fishing is getting me fired up. Im off to one of my favorite farm ponds. Ill be back in a few hours with report!
