I have a 220 Gallon tank with four Orino Peacock Bass. I'm currently using gravel as my substrate. I was considering moving toward sand as the substrate for my tank. Should I remove all of the gravel before putting in the sand or should I keep some gravel and put the sand over it? PLEASE REPLY

I use gravel as well But I think a nice light colored mixed with a little dark sand looks a lot more natural and cleaner in the tank if ur thinking of switching up u should go 4 it I would.. I regret not doing sand when I 1st started mind larger tank..

But to answer ur question I would use a small layer of gravel left in there But I did that to weight down plants and balance decor. Better

Take out all the gravel. Most gravel is too big and allows debris to get trapped and foul the water. Sand will be easier to keep clean and has a cleaner look....imo.

Sand looks cool, but there chances of it jacking up your filters.....Good luck.

this type of question you will get all kinds of answers..i have sane gravel layered with small river rocks from home depot..aslong as you clean the gravel good you will b good..but sand also has its up and downs..just matters on the fish keeper..
