I seen that people seem to have these bass in groups do they do better in groups or are they fine with out being in a group?

Definitely better in a group. I had a grow out in a tank by itself once and it only came out when nobody was around. It would hide immediately when you came into the room and always showed stressed colors. It was like this for 3 weeks until I got some geos in there with him. Almost as soon as the geos went in, he stayed out in the open when I came up to the tank. The change was practically instant. So yes, get a group, preferably 3 or more. This will make them eat better and will in turn give you healthier, faster growing fish.

So the group don't have to be all bass just other fish
Other bass, doesn't have to be the same species but they do better in groups of 3+ bass. It's not impossible to keep them alone but they do better in groups.

Its definitely cooler to see them with other bass. I have 6 and its really cool to see them stage together. Ive noticed mind kind of hunt in a group and they mostly stay together. Though being with other fish will make them less shy im not sure they will be social as they are with other bass. Mine are starting to occasionally come right up to me when im looking at them.

cichla are my favourite fish of all time before the Kelberi paired up I had a group of 7 they was amazing. Always better in a group when growing on they get more confidant feeding and compete for the food
