Bateria colony survival??

I'm just wondering how long the bacteria in your filter can live without a source of ammonia in the tank?

I had one of my tanks die off and haven't had a chance to re-stock it in a while. I'm just wondering if I would have to go through somewhat of a cycle again?

Depends on how long it's been empty. My guess is that it would start a mini-cycle when bio load is added.

Only one way to find out. Add some ammonia and test your water. Then you can keep adding once a day to keep it cycled until you're ready to stock your tank.

Yeah, that's what I figured. well at least I'll have some feeders already for my restocking!!!
