Hi I'm moving to a new place and I'm considering turning a bathroom into a mini-studio by removing the toilet and sink while transforming the "tile-bath-tub/shower" into a nice DIY palladarium tank for my shoal of 5 Red Saddled Bichirs.

Roughly speaking the footprint of the palladarium tank would be 5'L x 3'W and I have up to 10' of height available.

I'm thinking of providing them with at least 200gal water volume and on top of that some ground above water surface for them to climb to.

Not sure how to do this...
a) should I just build a glass tank and place it in that space?
b) Is it possible to work my mixing materials (e.g. part of the existing tile wall and glass?
Budget isn't a major limiting factor at the moment

Waiting on your ideas...

It would be safer to build a fish tank in the foot print of the bathtube then to have any of the old sections incuded in that the water would break though over time and the bath tube set up with bath tube parts added to it might be toxic for fish.

I decided to build an all glass tank. I might pay someone to help me build it in situ. I have a problem finding aquarium safe silicon locally. Only small tubes become available from time to time... Dow Corning 732 is the most widely available and is the one used by a guy that build tanks locally. I have a six footer built by him three years ago and so far so good (it leaks if filled all the way up yet water can be raised half way above the lower edge of the plastic rim)

I may use metal frames for this one. Either steel or aluminum. I don't like using anything metallic in aquaria but this odd size leaves me without options. Any ideas?
