Here are some pics of a Crenicichla Semifasciata I took today. She shares a 30g with some Africans. She is not very aggressive. She is a great diggeer. For some reason she swims around with a mouthfull of gravel and dumps the gravel on the highest spot in the tank. Anybody know why?

Nice! Need to make the pictures a wee bit smaller though! Oh...and Batrachops is a thing of the past....pretty sure they are all classified as Crenicichla now...;). One last thing, that looks more like a male....females will have an ocelli in the dorsal i think....;).

^ is a female trust me. Here is the male, my favorite fish.
He is more than twice her size and almost fits my fist in his mouth. He could probably kill any fish his size.
His body is so flexible he can easily make a circle and even "cross" himself.
He recognizes me and some other people.
He comes to the surface and lets me pet his head, if he is in a good mood.
While I am doing that he moves his protruding eyes like a chameleon - a true frog-pike.
Crenicichla Semifasciata is the prevailing Latin name now.
But in his native waters, here in Argentina, we refer to him as "Batrachops".
Before I got him, I never thought I could consider a fish a pet.
