I gess you could but it would be extremely dificult and possibly dangerous considering they can carry rabies. Not worth it.

My sentiments exactly. Zoos carry them but I dunno how safe it would be for private handlers. Not something I would risk if I had the chance.

every now and then various fruit bats are available on exotichobbyist, id check their and just stick with those. its easier to get them eating.

Actually I DONT recomend anyone getting any of thouse species untill a few generations have gone true in captivity and the risks of their keeping are better understood. Its said that one of the species the african flying fox, that is offered in the trade, could be apotencial vector of the ebola virus...yea not something you want to mess with, stick with safer animals for now.
