So i have a regular siphon tube that came with the tank i got off a kijiji seller. The problem is the tube is about 10' long and i can never get a suction effect, only to fill with water works. So i bought a battery powered vacuum from china. I really hope it works (was 11.50 with free shipping so not the biggest loss if it dusnt). I need to figure out a solution soon though if the battery one dusnt work. Right now i have a 90g tank with a eheim 2026 canister filter going. I have a jaguar fish and an oscar fish in the tank. And ideas that can help make cleaning this thing easier? Because until now iv been using a bucket to manually take out water :(

The easiest way to start syphon is fill the syphon/vac with water. Have the other end going to what your gonna drain the water into. When the vac end is full lift it out of the tank with the open end up as you get above the tank the water will start to drain out of vac. As you see it start to drain quickly put vac end back under water and your good to go. May take a few tries to get timing right.

Should i get a smaller tube at that point? Because the one the guy gave me is excessively long lol like 10-12 feet

You could run it out a window. Thats what i do no buckets.

You can buy a 25 or 50 foot tube that hooks up to a connector you put on your sink. It'll automatically start the syphon by turning on the water and then you can put water back into the tank using the same tap, if you use tap water for replacement.

Having big tanks something like this is a necessity. I'd rather not imagine what doing my 220 with buckets would have been like.

^that too, thats how i do mine i just dont use the sink attachment to syphon it seems to drain slower than just manually starting syphon and running hose outside.

Ahhh ok ok. Mine came with a conector but it dusnt screw on to my tap. Do i need a specific tap type?

You should be able to get it to work with a simple adapter. Is your sink a male fitting or female? Could you post pic of your connector so can see what you have and what you need.

When using a sink attachment, do you just add more conditioner to the tank as new water comes in? Or what?

I drain then add conditioner for more than what i took out. Then refill just make sure water temp is good first.
