hey guys its me. hmm..dont remember, the one who asks a whole lot of questions :D. ok, when i had my 55 gal i had floating algae which looked like sh*t on a show tank. Well now that i am starting my 110 gallon high (helluva show tank with the 31" height) i want to find a way to prevent and destroy algae. I was thinking of a submersible uv sterilizer which won't stand out with the black background and won't break the bank but it is only 9 watts. Will it be enough? My second option is to get a HOT magnum and use diatom powder with it. Will the HOT be enough?(i want to use it as a regular filter also when the tank is doing good) Any recommendations?

Almost forgot,The tank is 10 feet away from a large window and will receive sunlight every time the sun feels like it wants to shine through my window.

Thanks for the suggestion but i am looking for a solution that i can buy only once and use it for long. I have used those products but eventually the algae comes back so i have to keep on going to the lfs and shower them with my green.:banhim:

I am going to put some plants in but not too much because it is going to be a sa/ca cichlid tank but it prob won't be enough

Well plants will help wit the co2 fite but i may just be ur usin alot of lite. But ur choice

when ou get a bloom, cover ur entire tank with a bed sheet like an opaque one that lets in no light and leave the lights off for 5 days and on the 6th day pull off the sheet and scrub off all of the algae u can find and then do a 50% waterchange and add an anti algae product--- no more blooms for a long time

MAINTENANCE!!! AKA; WATERCHANGES....PERIOD!
