I was reading online, I believe it was aquaticdomain.com and it said that bb is present everywhere in the tank. Including floating around in the water. Is that true??
BB will tend to colonize on structure. The filter will become the concentrated area of colonization since they are typically designed to provide a massive surface area compared to volume. BB will also colonize on decorations and other items in your tank (ever feel the "slime" on a decoration when you touch it?). It will also be in your water, but not concentrated like it is in a colony.

Yes but they colonize on solid surfaces. The ones in the water column are so little they are negligible.
believe it or not, the fish bodies also have BB present. After all they feed on the ammonia produced by the fish. The fish body would be like a gold mine
wow. I do learn something new everyday lol. So the fish produces ammonia from their pores and then the bb on them eliminates the ammonia lol. Thats what I call a win-win.
I am not a biologist, but I don't believe fish excrete "ammonia from their pores". Ammonia is produced from waste inside the tank (which is produced by the fish of course). BB is present on the fish yes, but not because there is a higher level of ammonia "on" the fish. Still a win-win situatin though
