i am running a 75 gallon tank barebottom to grow out 7 soon to be 10 discus. i have a log that has plants tied to it that i want to keep alive while i grow them out and have it in the tank when it is planted. i recently got a small light just for the time being and when i turned it on the reflection from the bottom glass scared the fish so much they wouldnt move. my question is should i add a small amount of sand to the bottom of the tank to stop the reflection or should i just let them get used to it?

thanks for the advice.

You could try painting the bottom of the tank with a dark colour such as black.

ya i didnt really want to take the tank all the way down caz i dont want to stunt the dicus at all. and black would make them less colorful right?

it could give them more peppering.
some likes some don't.
what's your light specs ??

i think i figured it out it was just to dark at the time i turned it on so it was to much for them its just a pc 24" light.

As Mr. Jagger said,"Paint it black."

Or, add onther bit of driftwood.

This will cause peppering to be more pronounced. Not a huge deal, but not a great thing to look at.
