These 4 were born a month or so ago, very small. Sorry for odd lighting in the photos. Unfortunately, lost two of them in the first few days, they never had much movement or activity. The other two are healthy and active, feeding on everything. Father is a really nice BD mom is a classic leo.

Considering retiring the mom from breeding. She is at least 12 years old from what I know about her history. She's bred for years and has had weak and small pups recently. Her litter sizes greatly diminished. I've cut her back to breeding once every 12 months last 2 cycles (they would constantly breed if I let them). She just doesn't bounce back after the birth the way she used to. She took a feeding break for over week after this birth, been agonizingly slow and lethargic. About 5 weeks later and she seems fully recovered, but I worry about the stress. We will reconsider things again this time next year but she will likely live the rest of her life in peace, in the absence of the rowdy boys :)

Two boys two girls. Very little pups, one pair remains.

Had some other pups last week with a different pair another thread coming :)

Congrats on the little ones! Sorry to hear a couple didn't make it.

Thanks Justin! Appreciate the kind words. The situation makes the other two that much more special to us :)

Hard to get good shots of the mom, she's been in a pond for years. There's just one glass viewing panel, I'll take a few more top down next water change.

For reference The p14 pair are around 5 year old adults 15-18" range. I last measured her at 24" when I put her in the pond she's in 2 years back. She may have grown another inch or so since then. She's enormous and a breathtaking sight

I've had her for 5 years, my friend before 4 years, and she was breeding for the previous owner to us both for many litters. I'm sure she's at least 12 at this point. I'll dig up some more pictures when she was in acrylics with better viewing. She's been the most gentle ray I've ever seen, only gets aggressive for food :)

Years ago she would have litters of 8 and a few of 10 but last several around 4. I think it's time.

Thanks for replying and the pictures

She looks like an awesome girl...one of those that no matter what, you never forget.
She must have been huge when she carried 10 pups!!!
