I have had piranha 4 separate times in my life. Everytime I have had them they babies and they grew to be from 10"-12". I always kept at least 6-7 of them at one time. The Last time I had 20 in a hundred gallon.

Well let me get to the point. One time my dad was cleaning out the tank. The piranhas where about 10". The tank was kept in the basement with no light expect when we were in the basement. Well one of the piranhas bite my dad on the palm of his hand once. It took a huge chunk out of the palm of his hand right under his index finger. He had to get stiches, but it wouldn't stop bleeding. He had to get a skin graph or something like that and he missed 6 months of work at GM. I'm lying that **** even surpised me that he missed that long!!! So be careful.

P.s- We let the piranha live even though he did that. Ended up giving them away.

That sucks .... should always be careful with any wild animal, especially ones with razor sharp teeth.

thanks for the warning. but im sure all piranha owners know of the risk's and know what to do n not do while owning them. try using a light next time maybe? and be more careful with ur hand in the tank

maybe he got bit because you had 20 in a 100g. thats way over stocked, and stress could of made him do that. but thanks for the warning, piranha's are some deadly fish, even if not wild

That wasn't the time I had 20 it was the time I had 6-7. Maybe he was just scared and hungry!!!

6 or 7 10'' piranhas in a 100 gallon is still overstocked
