I went up to PetSmart to pick up some crickets for my daughters new toad (1st pic), when I struck up a conversation with the fish dude there. They carry a few Africans and sometimes there are some nice ones. Anyway, as he was netting a sunshine peacock (2nd pic) he mentioned that a red peacock (similar to pic #3 - the male version of a red peacock is the fish on right) was not eating.....for like 3 weeks, and he was worried. I told him that I could "cure that female fish of her problem." I showed him how to hold the fish, open her mouth, and wosh out came 31 babies. He was awestruck and thankful and since he just got a shipment in and had no room for fry he gave them to me.

That is a nice story.......I have "My Guy" at the big box, but he was not there tonight.......

Not enough stories like that!
 
found a better picture of the red peacock from petsmart purchased from the same store, like 3-4 weeks ago. For some reason the blue head did not show up in the other shot. ??? the second pic is of the new home of the little ones:D .

Tis cool, but the problem is you never know who they breed with. (Of course when buying from big box pet stores I always assume hybrids, but that doesn't mean they can't be cool looking hybrids.) (IE my fav fish right now, ie my avatar is a hybrid.)
