Wow, that's really cheap for LEDs. I'm interested to see how these work as well. I might have to look into these more.
serious potential.....very good price. They could be very bright with 54 1 watt LED....I may need to try one!
I thought they looked interesting too. I might buy one of the smaller models just to check out, if it looks okay I could use it on my grow out tank then purchase larger models for my 210g.
This is a picture from Cichlid forums. This is the 48" beamworks on a 75 gallon tank.
Here it is lit up.
My LFS got a small beamworks light in as a Demo with his last shipment. I took it home yesterday, and like what I see. It is only 16" long but has extendable legs that easilly extend to over 2 feet. It has 54 led's and I especially like the switch set up. It has all led's on, only nightlights or all off. I think I am going to order 4 of the 48" beamworks for my new 300g I will be getting after the first of the year. I hear they have a "double bright" series too. I may look more into that only because my current tank is 36" tall and the new one will be 30"
Which lights are these, the "freshwater" or "reef" version? Do the housings, etc seem to be of decent quality?
I assume he pictured the single bright version as the reef has 54 bulbs on a 48" fixture and that looks to be a lot more than 54 bulbs.
The pictures are not mine they are from a thread on a cichlid site. I just have a small 16" fixture. The design is very good looking very low profile and feels solid. The pictures shown are the fresh water or single bright fixture, and I think he got it for like $70 shipped. Very nice light for that price.

he explains you have to get the double bright reef ready version for it to be comparable to marine land and get darker penetrating light (reef ready come with 1w)

The setup he has is only the 11 watt 48" which is brighter than the "single bright" marine land. The reef ready is 54 w which would be a lot brighter than what is pictured. I purchased the reef ready for my 265g which is 36" inches in height. This should give a everyone a good idea of how they penitrate deeper tanks. I will have a full write up when they get here.
