Been reading about this set up and have a generalunderstanding of how/why the system works but don't recall seeing much as to pipe sizing. If I'm wanting 2000-2200gph I would need to use 2"pvc but snce this setup will also have a channeled standpipe would 1.5" be better? Not sure what percentage of water should be going in the channeled stand pipe. I get that things are fine tuned with the use of a valve but if 1.5" will work the smaller diameter may make a big difference regarding maintenance in a tight stand.

Isn't a herbie the same thing minus the 3rd pipe for emergency? Is there an ideal ratio on that set up?

They are pretty similar. I think ideally you would want either pipe to be able to handle all or almost all the flow from your pump. That's how I did mine, it is always good to have redundancy when it comes to drains.

Thanks, that was my plan but since I'm still saving for another month I'm starting to over think stuff.

On a side note I saw current announced that their ramp timers are now available.

2' is too big IMO. The full siphon standpipe at 2" is well over 2,220 GPH. The gate valve would just be throttled way back to compensate for the diameter in piping. I would run 1.5" if that's the desired GPH range you are going for. The only advantage 2" has over 1.5" is if you ever step up the flow significantly then the gate valve can be opened up and no change in plumbing diameter is needed.
