I have a 7" Beani, and a 7" Grammodes, in a 360 gallon with a divider in between them. They have been living that way for almost a year now. I removed the divider, and added 5 jewels and 2 Escondido, and the Grammodes and the Beani went at it, so I ended up taking the Beani out. It only lasted for about 1 minute and then Grammodes got away from the Beani, so I took the Beani out. They all are doing well now, but I was wondering is the Beani gererally meaner/more aggressive then the Grammodes.

My Grammodes would not live in the 360 with a 10" Midas, he was trying to kill him, so I ended up taking the Midas out of the tank, but with the Beani, he was no match... Also I notice when tanking the beani out of the tank he bit a whole in the net and wouldn't let go of the net... It looks like they have much sharper teeth or maybe a stronger grip/jaw... Do anybody have any experience with Beani or Grammodes, that would ellaborate on should it be possible to have a grammodes and Beani share a 360 gallon tank together or is that impossible?

all depends on the personality of the fish, but those are 2 highly aggressive species. They're also fairly closely related in appearance so that's not going to help either because typically they're going to be the most aggressive towards conspecific males or males of closely related species.

Try rearranging the tank and reintroduce them. Just removing the divider had (likely) both defending their turfs.

fish have personalities like people , some are mean and some nice and those fish sound like they have mean personalities and are aggressive by nature .

the divider didn't help to much bro . think if you had to live like that . some one mean and always angry on the other side of a clear plastic divider always telling you that he's gonna jack you if you come on his side and then one day someone takes it off , party ha ..
anyhow bro keep messing with that because i think that it can be done . unless those fish have the meanest of personalities and if they do there more valuable to me , they just have to be kept solo ..
i know that buttacoferi cichlids are very strong and can bit down very hard . i also think that amphilophus do . nice fish bro ,good luck ...

I wouldn't try putting them together again. They are just to aggressive to keep together and i wouldn't risk stressing the beani out by taking him out and putting him back in etc... I have a 5" beani living with 2 - 5" Odo males in a 180 g without any problems. My beani so far, has not exerted very much aggression although i am keeping a close eye on things.

Again, eliminate the territories and reintroduce. They will go after each other for a while until things get sorted out. You can't tell anything leaving fish together for a minute. They don't need to be kept solo.

Thanks for all the advice, I have some things to keep in mind now...
