Got the seiboldi Memorial day at the last Greater Chicago Cichlid Association Classic auction, think the bag was 5 or 6 fry for $5 or something ridiculously cheap like that
They were maybe an inch at the time, now about 3".
Same day picked up 20 Guianacara geayi, and half a dozen Herichthys bartoni, it was a fabulous auction.
He was the first to develop, even at less than 3 inches, and has maintained his dominance in the tank from the start, you can see him on the upper right at <3".
He mostly stays in his hole, only coming out to eat, or to patrol the tank a few times each day and terrorize the other male beani, and reestablish dominance over his females.
Male beani is looking good an that nuchal is something new to beani from what I've seen. My 6 have clearly developed a pecking order and these little buggers are definitely in the "aggressive" category.
