does anyone on here use exo terra tanks for bearded dragons? they show beardies in all their desert viv pictures. i want to give my beardie something special(he is my best friend) when i get my new room since he will have more space, he is currently in the kitchen... and since im getting a room i thought he should get one too. i am looking at the 36x18x18 or 24 tall. which height would be better? thnx

For the first few months, I would say it would be ok. But an adult beardie...no. The suggested minimum cage footprint is 4'x2'x2'. Obviuosly the more space you can give them the better.

+1

To OP, I also can't see the advantage of a 24" tank over an 18" tank for a lizard that spends a lot of time on the ground. Its up to what you want, but it really shouldn't matter too much.

The Beardie isn't really going to utilize the height that much, so the difference is negligible between your two options. Exo Terra makes some great tanks for more terrestrial lizards, still with the typical double doors and locking top screens. At work we have their 40gal for sale regularly, it's a really nice tank and kit. You might look into some of those instead of their other set-ups.

ive had a bearded dragon in a 40 gallon breeder for 7 1/2 years and he is fine. he gets taken out regularly and mainly climbs his magnetic ledges and branches or sleep on his heat pad. an 18 inch should be fine since he has lived since we got him in a 15 inch deep tank. the only difference is the depth and heigth of the exo terra compared to his current tank. why would it be so hard to heat a screen top tank? he has a screen top now and i keep it 90-110 hot end and 75-85 on the cool end. plus he has a heat pad. the one question i really had was where the double doors worth the extra money?
