well my mom is sideing with on letting me get the bearded dragon soon
but not for the crickets
what else could i feed it besides veggies
meal worms?
hb the dead crickets
she would be fine with that
but do they eat them?
any advice?

you might be able to get the beardie to eat dead crickets but you might have to wiggle them around everytime you feed which would be a pain in the butt. how old of a beardie are you getting? baby beardeds will most likely just take crickets and meal worms (mealworms should ne be the main food though). as they get older they will start to eat more greens. when i worked at a shop each batch of baby beardies was different though. some would eat greens at 3 weeks of age and toher wouldnt touch greens til they were 6 months in age. it depends on the indvidual. and even as an adult you will get beardies that only want live stuff. so as a baby yes, you will be feeding mainly crickets and other insects (meal worms). as it gets older, you will still need to feed it adult crickets, roaches, super mealworms, and maybe the occasional pinkie mouse but it will also eat greens (collard, turnip greens, nustard greens, and dandelion greens/flowers) it just depends on the individual if it will eat more live stuff or greens.

if you want more of a veggie eater how about going with a mali uromastyx? they get about 15 inches and have good personalities. check them out. neat lizards and will mainly eat all veggies. occasional crickets and mealworms are treats. eats the same greens as i mentioned for the beardie above.

you got the tinley park show happening in oct by you. lots of bearded and uro vendors with better prices then you would get at your pet store. if you can, hold out for that!!!!!!!

they can supposedly eat their way out of baby beardies, when i had mine and fed them mealworms i crushed the heads/jaws before feeding them to them they still wriggled about enough to get eaten i was just paranoid but didnt bother when they were about 6 months old, i also fed them waxworms occasionally which are like caterpillars and good for putting on weight on them mine would also take pinkies and crickets as well as greens, if you do get crickets make sure you get wingless/silent ones as i had some normal crickets that didnt get eaten in my water dragon viv once and the noise was unbearable at night for the 4 nights until i caught the bloody thing by taking everything out of the viv to catch it

if its criket noise you worry about just pull the wings off the males...yes dandelion flowers and leaves are good for them. i fed them to my ig all the time. well the greens i would get from the store, the flowers i would just pick from my lawn. make sure no one is spraying any weed killer by you though. pretty sure that meal worm thing is an urban legend. only way i can see it happening if it was a dying lizard and its body temps werent correct..... most likely these were sick lizards that had loose super mealworms in the tank that would come out and bite the lizard and not from the inside out. only thing i have heard is that to many mealworms might cause it to get sick because of all the exoskeloton shells or something. heck, i feed supers to my toad and he is fine.

oh, and leos are gonna be just a cricket/mealworm/wax worm feeder. seriously look in to the uros!
