The story goes like this....
I went to a more specialist LFS abit further from home from me, i didnt realize my friend was willing to tank me so far, so once i realized that was it we were on our way.
This shop has some of the better harder to find cichlids here in the UK, so i was getting quite excited, thinking, what could i have... waffled all the way there.
When i got there, to my suprise, they had not all that much, a few BEAUTIFUL syns, which i was VERY tempted by, but there eventual size bothered me, they were a good size already 5/6" and they also have EBJD (both species im glad i didnt purchase because of the research i did later)
So i eventually picked another rainbow, this time a red one to go with the ones i have as targets.... and a asked for some of the albino tiger barbs.
Then i wandered over and could see another male marbled convict (a joke after all that debate with mine) and i said to my friend, id love to have that but it would fight with mine, i also said "i feel sorry for it" (a jewel was BEATING it up, which i reported) my friend later said just as i went to pay, i felt sorry for the small one in the corner, i was like WHAT? the male? he said yeah, there was a smaller one in the corner on its side. So i shot back into the fish room, and there she was....
In a real mess, fins tatty, on her side, panting. I didnt think she would live the night, but i felt SO SO sorry for her! and the joke is ANOTHER MARBLED!
Although, there are NO signs of breeding as of yet, she was slotted into my tank perfectly, no signs of aggression, just minds her own business, the male is also quite gentle with her.
My male is turning out to be abit of a gentle giant. Totally no aggression towards my targets, only the blood parrots, which are re homed this week all being well. He just TOTALLY ignores everything, i feel im really lucky tbh, iv not seen him be aggressive ONCE, i understand this may change when breeding, but if he trys to dominate the whole 100 gallon, im afraid i will re home the female, as she wasnt a planned member of my tank anyway and i feel im giving her half a chance for a good life in my tank. A friend on here has told me a few tricks to get rid of young fry. So i dont think ill be growing any out at all, unless my partner allows for a smaller tank.
Please excuse my spelling, i am slightly dyslexic.
They have only actually swam together like this a couple of times, he seems more interested in watching me and parading up and down the front of the tank.
