beat up baby silver

two weeks ago i bought a 3" silver aro and he seemed to be doing ok, then two days ago i bought a 3" indo dat and put him with the aro in a 30g, they seemed to get along fine but yesterday the aro had what looked like sores on its sides and today there are more and there larger, i think they are bite marks from the datbut iam quite sure they dont look like fungus though has anyone known dats to beat up other fish? i thought anything they coudent eat would be fine?

anyway i put some melifix i had(its a year old still good?)and some salt in the tank, temp is always about 84, hes realy not looking good is there anything eles i can do?

seriously stick with water changes and that dat might have to go. But clean water always help my fish recover.

Get a bigger tank...

Take out the Dat. Do WC as mentioned and try to add some aquarium salt. Continue with the melafix as well. It helps a lot.

Get rid of the dat? Ditch the silver IMO.

dats can be little bastards and small silvers are amongst the weakest fish you can buy.. get the dat another tank until the silver is big enough to stand up for himself..
