I need some help. Sunday I noticed my tank was leaking. I rushed to get my Oscar, Jack Dempsey, Pleco, and crawfish out and into the bath tub. My wife went got another tank and we rushed to get it set up. Up until now my Oscar had been the king of the tank. Once the tank was set up and running I got the fish in and all changed. I came home tonight to an Oscar beat to pieces. The Jack was now the dominant fish and was showing his domination by destroying my Oscar. I have removed the Jack, but the oscar is beaten pretty badly, lip is skinned up, pecs are torn and tail is terrible looking. What do I need to medicate my Oscar with? Or is it too late for her?

oscars are tough as hell. I would treat her with some melafix, and a lot of clean water.
Goodluck. I hope everything works out well

agree, prob caused by change in tank layout so new territories had to be made

Some salt and a raise in water temperature will help too.

Wow that sucks dude! You can also try PrimaFix, it's a lot like MelaFix only a little stonger. Most people like to use it for fungus, but I have found it to works wonders for fin and scale damage. Good Luck!!!

like the others have said, you can use both melafix and pimafix, some salt and lots of water changes and hopefully the oscar will be ok.

just out of curiosity, what was the old tank size and the new tank size? also, where is the JD now? like soggysandwich alluded to, once you take fish that have been established in one tank and move them to another tank all bets are off. the whole "king of the tank" heirarchy has to be reestablished and fish that used to get along fine could wind up fighting to the death in a new tank.

:)

The old tank was a 150. The new tank is a 135. The Jack Dempsey is in a indoor pond. I have kept Jacks and Oscars together lots of times in the past but never had to change the tank, so I consider this a valuable lesson. Thanks to everyone for the advice and the Oscar seems to be back to her normal old glutonous self this evening.
