was wondering where to get tall plastic or silk plants for a 30 inch high aquarium?, Can I buy them from a wal mart or similar store, or a store that specializes in silk plants. I assume silk plants are ok to have inside the aquarium? I ask because Oscars tear regular jointed plants apart, I wanted taller type that are not jointed every few inches or so. :nilly:

PetCo has a lot of silk plants. You can check Drs Foster & Smith. I don't know how their silk selection is but they do have a lot of stuff.

There is a reason you don't see too many well decorated "Monster" tanks, especially with large cichlids. I have a feeling your Oscars will tear up silk as well. :(

i have silk plants with my malawi cichlids and they shred them--over time they sortof just fall apart and the edges get frazzled and they look like crap..on ebay you can find some good long plastic ones--thats what id use for oscars.. or some floating ones they can play with

i bought a lot of 3 really long plastic plants off of ebay, and they arent joined every few inches but at the base of the plant--my africans havent torn them apart...

The oscars could probably break those plants up too. I'd get some plastic ones.

petco, petsmart should have "giant plants" i forget who makes them but they are extremely large plants and look really nice
