Beautiful Fish Inside~ID Please

Here's Iris...my new African fish.
I bought her for $45 at a the LFS, but I forgot what she was....I just recently got into African cichlids, and I have to admit I'm a newbie (blushing)

Anyone got an ID, please?

I'm new but from all I have looked at it looks like a peacock Cichlid...but the price doesn't seem right...I may be wrong how big?

Looks like a male Protomelas taeniolatus "Red Empress".

absolutely not a red empress. I am not real into haps and most look the same. If you contact DavesTropicalFish out of austin they would be able to positivly ID it for you. There are alot of rarer africans in tx as well as all the common ones. GL

that is Protomelas Taeniolatus for sure...

Red Empress its a from Malawi and it should be housed alone or with a female in a 90g as an adult , they grow to be a nice size usually 10" .
