OK people, its because of you that I had to go and get a peacock bass.I love this fish. I am totally addicted now! I will be posting pics later. I hope I followed all the right info from you guys. Here we go: Tank 40 gallon, temp 84, salt, lots of rosy reds, water changes every 3 days, some tasty tetras, ehiem 2217, wet/dry also, lots of air. Don't worry I have a 90 and a 300 he will be moving into. He is a OC at about 4 inches long. I have not seen him eat but did notice that the tetras were almost gone and some reds. I am going to feed him live only. He looks really beefy. He is starting to swim around like crazy. He practices chasing the reds all the time.Way to cool! I love these guys.Anyway thanks everyone for the good info!:)

First I would bump the temp up to around 86-89 degrees. Then I wouldnt leave the feeders in the tank with the fish.you have a lot of filtration. However, feeders add to the waste load, and if you ever want to see your bass eat he has to be hungry. With the food in there all the time he heats at will.

Why are you feeding live only? A varied diet isd much better for your fishes long term help. A mix of live, frozen, and prepared foods would be a much better long term plan.

Just my observations on your post.

I AM GOING TO DOWNSIZE ON THE FEEDERS. I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING. I WAS GOING OFF THE THREAD HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. I HAVE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT THE TEMP THAT I TOOK EVERYONES ADVICE AND CAME UP WITH A MEDIUM. I WILL RAISE THE TEMP IF THATS WHAT YOU GUYS THINK AS I AM A ROOKIE AT THIS. IS MY FILTRATION FINE? THANKS

First check your cap lock. How big is the wet/dry and what do you have in it?

It is rated for 75 gallon tank. I have just the basic bio balls and drip tray cloth. The ehiem has all the substrate and carbon pad. Any info would be great! Thanks

Ok keep the temp at 87 degrees as a minimum and the tank oxygen high..
Do regular water changes a week and id take the feeders out too.
I would feed them whatever they will eat at this size combining feeders with frozen food etc till they beef up to a good size like 8" or so, then you can start to wean them on to staple diet of pellets while still feeding feeders on ocassion.
Welcome to the addiction! :D

Temp is 87 and the feeders are gone. What other things should I feed him. Worms, frozen shrimp, etc. I am a rookie here so anything you experts have to say I will follow! I love these fish. I used to fish for them when I was young. A very incredible fish.

And don't forget the pix! Please. I am intersted in this guy!

I'd also recommend adding to his diet instead of just live. Not alot of nutrition in just live. Just my .02

So worms and frozen shrimp and what else? I will post pics very shortly.

Any made food with thats specific to the breed. Foods with proteins, spirulina, shrimp meal and such I think would be good.

Double check that, but should be really good!
