I used to use it to help transition previous gars to prepared foods and as an occasional treat for the gars, but I haven't been able to find it for months. The fact that it takes a lot of energy for them to digest beefheart would probably only be beneficial in the case of an overweight gar; otherwise, it's definitely not a preferred staple for their diet, but could be given as a treat every once in a while (still not preferred) or used to get stubborn gars on prepared foods.
