I have a question I have Dovii's ( blue wolf cichlids ). The fish industry, Tfh magazine and the likes all sell beef hearts is this a good idea to feed it to them every now and then or should I make it apart of there regular diet. I also use hikari bio-gold and some of there other products for carnivorous Cichlids. And same question is for the brine shrimp please advise me thanks

variety imo is always best... not sure what doviis specific needs are ( never researched what their natural foods are) but I try to feed a few brands of pellets atm NLS/HIkari/Omega one are all added to my fishes diets per their species types. BUt I would think nightcrawlers would also be a good snack for a dovii. as for beef hearts and brine shrimp... imo both are not ideal foods but make okay treats on occasion... brine shrimp unless newly hatched have little nutrition content, and beef heart is a mamallian protein which is hard for fish to digest, but is loaded with nutrients. I try to aim for a 60/40 prepared/frozen-live combo and have good success for both growth and health. I would do some research on what doviis naturally consume.. and go from there. sure other may pipe up who actually keep or breed them.
