Are beefheart cubes bad to feed 2" rbp's? Ive been feedin them shrimp since ive had them which has been about a month now...I just ran out of the shrimp today and was wondering if it would be bad to feed them some beefheart cubes that I have left over in the freezer?

Don't feed them the same diet every day and every time. Once they use to the diet, it's hard to change the diet. I always recommend people to feed and train they piranha to get variety different diet every week. So that way the piranhas doesn't get picky, it will eat anything you put in the tank.

for sample

feed the raw shrimp this week, next week feed them smelt, the following week feed them silver side or other, etc.....

^^ Agreed with the above. I only feed it to my P's once in a great while as a treat as it is pretty fatty. Maybe once every other month or so for me.

my gold spilo eats anything i give him. beefheart is just so dayum messy though.

I feed my 7 red bellies beefheart every couple of weeks or so and they love it,I agree with the others i dont feed them the same thing all the time,i like to feed them a varied diet.

i agree with everyone above me, i use beefheart for my fish as a treat...BTW nice avatar:naughty:

I never understood the "BEEFHEART" thing since most of our predatory fish are "PISCAVORES"....but along w/ everyone else if given only as a treat and the diet is VARIED, then I think everything will be fine....hope this helps...

I always used chicken heart for fish rather than beef heart. Less mess and you can pick up trays for cheap at most ethnic markets. larger fish can have them occasionally whole. Vary the diet of course but even my RTC loved them from time to time. and My silver Aro goes nuts over them.
