I took my plastic to the 'Focus on Imaging' Show at Birmingham on Sunday. I came back with a Gary Fong Lightsphere (not usually available in the UK), a Lowepro backpack, a bargain tripod head, a carbon fibre monopod, a spare Nikon EN-EL3e battery, a 4GB card, a Nikon 1.4x converter, another nice Op-tech camera strap and a D300 to attach the strap to
It was exactly 12 months ago that I bought my D200, which will now be relegated to reserve body/habitat shot status. It's given me a lot of fun; but I think the D300 will let me do more and better photography. For example, I hope that the D300's better high ISO performance will allow me to use the converter with my 300mm to get better bird shots (sorry Andreas). I can't wait to try it out this weekend.
I took some photos of the show, which I have put into a 3-part blog. If you ever get the chance to visit a show like this, I can recommend it (and not just for the special deals on kit).
