I've been searching the DIY forums for a while and i think i may have over looked it but i'm looking for a good DIY canister filter idea for 500g-1000g tank. I want to go closed filtration to eliminate some humidity/noise.Very new to the DIY but i love projects so if anyone could derect me to a thread i would appreciate it.

And if there are none what do people think of a 5 gallon bucket system with a 1000gph pump inside it? would it be to much pressure.

Not sure a 1000gph pump would be enough flow for a 500-1000 gal tank. I'd shoot for 4000gph or more. You're looking for 5x or more water turnover rate to facilitate good filtration capabilities.

Just build your own wet/dry with lids. Best of both worlds.
