I came home from work at 12am ripped open the package to my new R/O filter, very excited to hook it up, I made sure I had all the parts I needed. however what I didn't count on was the old plumbing in the house failing.

I unscrewed the gate valve feeding the cold water line to the kitchen faucet, and guess what the compression nut fitting broke. So now im stuck with no water to the whole house. I had to turn the water to the house off since i was removing the gate valve which is where I would shutoff the water to just the kitchen.

but all worked out ok went to Home Depot this morning and picked up a new compression fitting. still had a small leak about 1 drip ever 8 seconds, a little silicone took care of that.

Now drinking pure water.

Thanks for sharing. One thing I learn from construction work is it's not a perfect world. Sh*t always happens.
