i have some earth worms left from my last fish that i traded in for some plecs my question would it be worth while chopping em up for med size plecs and cats or will it foul the water up to much or can they be rinsed and still retain any nutruients?

Most cats will eat suprisingly large worms though I have had some plecos that would not touch them. First just try dropping in an inch long peice and see if it gets eaten. to clean them you slit them lengthwise then rinse, then chop. This is also how you treat them to eat them yourself.

I feed earthworms all the time to my fish. I never chop the worms unless my fish are very small. Most 5"-6" fish I've had can eat a normal earthworm or nightcrawler whole. I just rinse, then squeeze from front to back with my thumb and index finger. Do this 3-4 times and watch the sh*t fly. :D
But slicing them sounds like a good method too.

I have never sliced or done anything to clean out hteir GI tracts. But I have fed them special diets, gutload. I haven't had any problems, with the fish or the water quality. I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I have never heard or read anything that said I shouldn't.
