Before planting new plants

i am about to go out and make my first purchase of plants i was wondering what i should do to the plants before i plant them in my tank. i have heard a quick dip in a bleach water solution then let set in water for a while and i have also heard to just let them set in a bucket of tank water. i want to be sure that i get all if not most of the snails off the plants because i dont want my tank taken over

A bleach dip will work alright, a salt water dip will also work.

I use a Potassium Permanganate Dip. I have never used this to prevent snails (I love em), but gets rid of any other nasties lurking.
