I plan to have a tank with a school of 10 Cory Catfish in a 55 Gallon. With a sand bottom, and a some driftwood, would the Corys do fine if I add a few Dwarf Gouramis?

yes

Yep, sounds good. Make sure you use smooth sand -- sharp sand can injure soft cory cat tummies.

Yup...it should be fine. I have some Cories with Tahitian Black Sand and they're fine.

I bought this black and white African Chiclid Sand its pretty soft. thanks for the quick response guys :)

will guppies affect anything? I like how their tails look. fancy males

unless the gourami pick on the guppies, there shouldn't be other compatibility issues.

do your research ahead of time which cory catfish you want in there and if it matches the temperature range of the inhabitants in your tank

not all cory catfish is created equal :)

You should get corydorus barbatus. They are the Monsters of the cory cats! They can grow to almost 4 inches!:WHOA:
