Can anyone recommend thecomplete cycle filter filter for someone that eventually wants to get into keeping "MONSTER FISH" I figure I can get this for my 150gal and keep some tetras in there until I have more time to devote for bigger fish in the summer.

whne i first started i got the marineland 350 wiht bio wheel. still have them now and its been about 2 years!!! but alot of people here use aquaclears. and whne i start off a tank i use seachem "stability". helps star the tank off right

I'd be wary of any filter or product that claims to eliminate the need for water changes.

something from the Eheim classic series.. never fails..

werd X3 Got a 2215 with an ac110 on my 55 and its a flawless setup :) substrate pro ftw

The filter you provide the link to looks to be just a glorified under gravel filter. The question is if it really is effective at removing nitrates, most likely not. I would think you'd be better off spending the 100 bucks towards a good proven filter.

As others have stated the eheim classic 2217 would be a good choice, comes complete with media and is easy to set up/use. Also I would look into getting a pair of AC110s these are hang on back filters, they will work well for mechanical filtration and add a little extra bio filtration also.

What do you have for filtration now on the 150? If you have HOBs now, I would keep those on the tank and add a canister, depending on what you want to keep in the future.

I use AquaClear 101's for my mechanical filtration.....

For a 150:
--->Two AquaClear 101's
--->One Canister filter....Easy, cost effecient one would be a FilStar Xp3....
--->Then, when you get the "building bug", build a DIY Wet/Dry---Sump filter....

I use this combo on all my 125-180 range....
