As the headline states I'm new to this and I'm setting up a 55 gallon tank for my new fish . I was told with this size tank I could go with 3 red belly piranaha s it that correct ? Water temp should be around 75 to 80 from what I'm reading on around 7 or 8 for the ph level but I can't find anymore information everything is new from plants to gravel to hiding spots so if anyone can give me a advice on what else I should do before I go spend the money on the piranaha s i would like them not to die cause of something I did
Thanks
Justin

make sure there are 3 separate hiding places for each fish try and get each fish around the same size or you will lose the smallest one I don't know what size your getting but remember to keep them well fed

A red belly can grow to be more than a foot long. If you get 1" babies, in a years time, they will be about 6". To keep three adults would require a tank of at least 125 gallons, and well filtered. For a 55, stick with a smaller serra like a sanchezi or an irritans.

I'm aiming for a Black Piranha myself but this is a good tend. What do you recommend for filtration? I'm trying to pick up a 4-6" fish for 180g tank?
