Hey there everyone! I'm not nearly as cool as any of you, I don't have my own tank. YET. Haha. I'm wanting stingrays, but I'm not stupid enough to go out, buy a few, and start there. Maybe in a few years, eh? For now, I'd like some advice on where to get started with my tank and some general knowledge, so hopefully one day I'll know enough to get those rays. Any suggestions? Just pretend I have absolutely NO idea what I'm doing [even though I know a little] so no details are missed. Thanks! :grinno:

If you're a begginer you should start out small with a 10 or 20 gallon and get some platies or swordtails.

I have a ten gallon with a few "glo-fish". Haha. A friend of mine knew I liked fish and gave them to me for Christmas over a year ago. They're fun and neat, but something with a little more.. character... would be nice. :P

bichirs are fairly hardy and interesting fish, why to start out with like a 5 inch senegal bichir

They do look pretty interesting, thanks! I'll check out the local fish store and see what I can find! It's nothing too fancy, but hopefully I'll get lucky!

Mikrogeophagus ramirezi
Blue Ram, Golden Ram, German Ram, etc...
The Blue ram is one of the most peaceful and beautiful dwarf cichlids of all. They grow to 2.5" or 7cm. Their colors look great, purple, yellow, black, red, and iridescent.
You will read that they are delicate to keep but good careful maintenance of a tank will ensure they thrive.
Rams will teach you how the big boys do it. With their territorial defenses, mating moves, egg laying, and guarding the young.
All this fun and it only takes 29 US gal to get started.
I started with the guppies, swords and mollies. But until I got my first batch of Rams I really had no clue how much fun it could be to own fish.
Let us know what you go with! Pics Please :clap

Might as well start out were you will end up...read up a bunch so you have a good understanding, buy a 300 gal. 2 FX5 filters, heaters and start stocking!!!!!!
