Hi all,

I am dreaming up a peacock tank and wanted to see what everyone's opinion was for tank size. I would like 3 mono peacocks and 1-2 other fish (possibly aro). From my understanding and fishing experience the butterfly peacocks (mono) are smaller than the tems. I want the tank to have lush jungle decor to give it a natural feel.

What would be a good size tank to shhot for?

What other fish would go well?

Thanks!

if you want arows with this i would go with 9x3x2 or 6x4x2. also do you want live or fake plants.

deffintely looking at a 9 foot lenght 6 feet will really cramp up an aroo and just look akward, stay away from jardini's as theyll prolly maul you bass, i nice set up would be three mono's a silver aro and a tsn

8x3x2 would be a good size although most of the other recomendations sound good as well.

at least 3 feet wide and for lenght the longest tank you can afford.... cichla and pike cichlids, maybe even a ray... im not a big fan of silvers and peas... its all up to you though itts your fish. as for plants.. if you want live.. java moss will grow big and easy. im not big into decor.. if the tnak isnt huge your going to need to give your fish as much room as possible to swim

not sure. Just now starting to do my heavy research on specifics, although I have been interested for years. What are pros and cons of live vs fake plants? Also Im trying to decide whether acrylic or glass is better for this.

Torn at the moment between a community peacock tank or one Jardini as well. It seems as though I will need a much bigger tank for a community of peacocks than I would need for the Jardini. Which would be easier for a noob?

live plants help reduce nitrates and i think they also raise ph slightly if im not mistaking.. i read that some where receintly. as for acrylic vs glass.. acrylic isnt as heavy and you can remove scratches, its also more expensive and scratches easier. glass tanks are heavy.. once you scratch it, it stays scratched and its a bit cheaper in cost... i like acrylic but only own glass tanks :( .. as for jardini or cichla... bradda what are you crazzzzyyy! cichla hands down ... when i had a jardini it was madd boring so i ate him hahah jk jk but he was kinda boring so i got rid of him. dont forget you are still going to need a big tank for a jar!!! so i see your decission is made ;)

thanks for your answer! can you elaborate on what makes the peacocks more exciting than a jar?
