Hi i was interested in keeping a turtle but im not too sure which one would be best suited for the setup i have for him..

right now i have an empty 30gallon tank and hood
i am gonna get some small pebble gravel for it

and my question is what kind of turtle would be fine for life in it?
where would be the best place online to get them?

thnks in advance

Your best bet would be to get a mud or musk turtle. I would look on Kingsnake.com for them. On a side note, as nice as gravel or stones would look in a tank, it's a pain in the but to clean. If you do decide on stones, make sure they're bigger than the turtles head or it could accidentally ingest them while feeding.

I've heard bad things about the turtle source before. Like them selling people sick turtles. As for a Painted or Map turtle, neither could live in a 30 gallon for life.

its a good site
those are complaints from a long tim ago
they have since cleaned out they're stock of turtles
from what i have heard
but they are a little pricier than kingsnake will be

ok so i sold the 30 gallon used the money to buy a cheap 55 from my friend

i was gonna use a 24" strip on one side for basking
thinking about piling all the gravel that im getting on one side for land
hopefully i have enough to raise it above waterline
which i plan on having half the tank full (8 inches high)

as for what i want to get
thinking about getting a mississippi or texas map or a mississippi mud
but i cant really find much info on them
