I know its a little early, however I want to try and plan everything out prior to getting my next tank. My plans are for a 300 wide 96x30x25 in january.

TANK:

I've already done some research as to prices of tanks and it seems around $1300 for glass and around $2300 for acrylic. I'm really leaning towards glass because of getting scratches on acrylic and that extra $$ is good for more tank items.

Thoughts on this?

FILTERS:

I want to continue using the cfs700 for the uv in it and wont need to hardline one. I'm not wanting to run a sump because I just don't like them due to noise in my living room. I know this is a big debate amongst some, and after 30+ years I just prefer hob/canister combo. I know everyone will have difference of opinion on this and really its a matter of canisters. I'm leaning towards the eheim 2180 that has the built in 500 watt heater and 2262 and fx5 for mech with ac110s for ease of maintenance.

Thoughts?

HEATER:

I'm really leaning towards the built heater canister. If not then I figure two 300 watt heaters.

STAND:

Will be building my own and will add pictures as I do. I made the one in my avvy which is for my 220. I will be selling the 220 because I wont have room for both.

LIGHTS:

This is always a fun task for me because I'm caught between led and ho t5. I've had bad luck with leds for some reason. I will not have live plants however I like the shimmer effect of the led.

Thoughts?

FISH:

The current inhabitants of my 220 will be moving and the main reason is for my rtgg. The 30" will be good for him as well as the 96" vs the 72" he has now. I don't know if the parrots will go because they don't quite go with my theme. Probably move the convict and firemouth out also. All my loachs are gone, however I want another tiger botia. My chocolate will definitely being going over with the rtgg and I would like some thin bar or red hook silver dollars. Any others to add? I don't want it heavy stocked and severums also going.

Thoughts?

Ill add stuff as I go to the thread, but I would love thoughts. I know its a little early, however I'm one of those that loves to plan ahead and get stuff as I go before the tank arrives.

I think this is a solid plan chris. I say 3 FX5's and 2 AC110. You could always just add 2 inline heaters. I'd go led's over T5, and remember I still have thoses 2x48" beamswork light im not using. I guess I will have to live vicariously through your tank for awhile as I wont be getting one anytime soon :( . Keep us posted

Thanks josh. The reason for the eheim 2180 was because of the heater and eheim seems to be better with biological and was going to use the fx5's for mechanical. The two ac110 are for easy to change or items in them for temp use. Im going to make a bag of crushed coral to offset our wonderful 6.0 tap.

Really leaning towards either two eheim 2180's and another with uv built in or one 2180 and 2080 with another uv canister.

Tank is going to be 96x36x24 or 350 gallons and acrylic.

That's what I'm shooting for especially since I'm not using a sump. Going to have 2 Hydor Koralia Evolution 1400 gph wavemakers also to direct flow.

Good idea for the pumps too.I think its smart to plan ahead, also adds to the excitement.what substrate? There is a thread about quickcrete all purpose sand, cheap and looks great.you could add a boucorti, brasilensis maybe?red hook SD will look good.or filament barbs.another option for heaters is to use a controller,I think 3-300 W

Pool filter sand is what I use now, however I haven't decided yet.

I definitely want some red hooks, severums and don't want it overcrowded.

I'm leaning towards the dual bulb t5 aquaticlife 48" x 2. I'm thinking that will be enough because there will be no plants.
