My fh is making small pits in the substrate all over the tank filling his/her mouth full then spitting it out as well as fanning the sand out with her/his fins is this the common behaviour of male or female?? or do both male and female perform this trait?? its on it own atm in a 75g @ 3 inches in length

Can't say for sure, but I had the same question recently with my fh doing the same thing. Mine laid eggs 2 nights ago!
