Behaviour of Obscure swamp eel

I have an obscure swamp eel, wild caught. It's kept in a 150 gallon aquarium, with loads of little shrimp and my 4 inch long blood parrot. It's 16 inches long, and remarkably the blood parrot chases it away. Why are they such a cowardly type fish? Since this is the only species of swamp eel I've had experience with (I've owned loads of the obscure swamp eel), I was wondering, are other species of swamp eels like this?

probably gets pushed around because while predatory, they are not necessarily territorial like most cichlids (in this case the blood parrot).
