Hey all, I'm planning out ideas on different types of filters i want to add to my 100 gallon, currently no stock/filter issues but want more filtration for when i pick up more fish. Design is pretty simple, use around a 600-750GPH pump from the tank into the 4" abs pvc and just overflow back into the tank once going through different filter stages(might use the white pvc if i find it in 4+ inches diameter). My only concern with the design is after the vertical intake pipe(for mostly pot scrubbies and floss-colored not blue), when it turns the 180 degrees to be vertical again, does the 2nd turn around point need to be higher then the final overflow back into the tank.
Dimensions may vary: thinking 4" inner diameter abs, roughly 30" tall from bottom of return pipe on left to the outflow of said return.
If anyone has experience doing something similar would love to see/hear how it went. I would be building a separate stand for this to sit on behind the tank for easy maintenance and slide it out real quick for cleaning.
concerns:
-Middle turn point being level with return(colored green)
-Best place for drain to do maintenance a valve on bottom of both loops?
-should all the vertical pipes have T joints between each other similar to the first one? (otherwise might be hard to empty media ect.)
-is abs pipe acceptable for this sort of use since it wouldn't be under significant pressure, and appropriate sealant for the joints?
-considering a design like this, or might just go overhead sump for ease
-is the tall intake pipe high enough at ~7" of the tank, return touching tank rim
