Well we finally made the plunge and installed our first W/D system as an auxilary filter on our 180.
It's an Eshopps complete kit so far I'd recommend this to any beginner..comes complete, except pump ( in fact if your in the Chicago area there is a killer deal in our MFK buy/sell....not mine but I thought I'd plug it)...

Pics forth coming , if you are familar with this brand and have any ideas on improving this set up it would be appreciated............like balancing the intake and exhaust.....might have to place another "u" tube on the overflow box??...or use another pump?? .............

ES100 18" x 12" x 16" H 15 Single 400 gph 3.3 75-100 gallons
pump is a mag drive 500 and I have a RIO 1400 ava...

Next step DIY W/D?:naughty:

hey mr. pleco i to have made the change over but for myself i built my own. my first attempt was actually a great learning experience trust me learning how to even out the in flow to match the out flow was a bit challenging at first but my goal was achieved. i decided to help my son in his quest of the W/D.
At this time all is working fine water levels are at their best.

I also have a w/d by eshopps and I think it's the biggest model they make, like ES300.
Anyway I think it's a crap comparing to the other w/d I have by pro clear.

the overflow box it comes with is too small for the size of the sump. the overflow tubing isn't Ued property. the outflow nozzle does not have a tiny hole to prevent backflow. the tubing isn't interchangable with other w/d. the covers for the inflow sump aren't secured.....anyway I just don't like it. Espeically the overflow box is so small that I can't use a 700 g/h pump or higher. the box will start gathering bubbles and build up in the tubes, and the noise will kill me...etc..etc..

That's great feedback, I bought the smaller model ES100 as the plan was to get some experience with a w/d, then move this unit (seeded) over to my new 90 gal tank to help speed up the new tank cycle. I was thinking about the ES 300 or equivalent for permanent duty on the 180, as I have an FX5 and 2 XP3 already on the tank...

BTW I hooked up the smaller RIO 1400 last night and it's running like a champ....:headbang2

Anybody else have some feedback on the Eshopps line?
