i had a 135 gal that i transfered over from a salt FOWLR when i moved. i been adding to the bio-load pretty fast, now my params are at zero...

That's not nearly enough information for us to offer any thoughts on...

well the tank is set up for freshwater now. and the tank is cycled where the ammonia is at zero, and nitrite is at zero. with the bio load i have, (aros, oscars, silver fish, blood parots, etc), the tank is stable and reading at zero on the tests.

just thought i would share because haven't had much luck with this lately. so feels like a good accomplishment for me. lols...plus the fact that less than a month ago, i had this tank set up as saltwater.

Well seems you must have some doubt, hence the post. What about your nitrates what are those levels at?

If you set up a brand new tank, with brand new filters, brand new substrate/decor, brand new water... and throw 500 fish in it and promptly check the water... you will have 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite... yet the tank will not be cycled and it will be headed for trouble...

I trust that you have not done this, but I hope you see what I mean that simply stating you have 0 ammonia & nitrite is not enough for anyone else to base any opinions off of...

Your tank may be cycled and running wonderfully, I do not have enough information to create any rational doubt, nor enough information to estblish confidence...

Brian asked a good question... what are the nitrates at? If you are accumulating nitrates without the presence of ammonia or nitrites, your tank very well may be cycled and healthy...

But if you just did a huge water change and the ammonia, nitrites & nitrates are all at zero, it's likely it isn't...

A month soudns like a rather short time to have a tank fully cycled for a full stock... but if you've had your fish in the tank for a month then having 0 ammonia/nitrites in an uncycled tank is unlikely...

there will always be nitrates.....at least from what i have found.....about a week ago i was getting readings of nitrite and ammonia....there hasn't been much of a spike in either. but i waited until, and lets say reluctantly tested, and my ammonia and nitrite is at "ZERO".... then i do a small water change......haven't really tested any PH, CARB, phostphate? but i know when the fish look healthy, and their "equilibrium" is presently balanced....plus with how much i feed them, daily.....

lets just say i know what a healthy fish looks like......but i still do have questions, as i'm still learning, and am new with Dat fish's and aros....

when i said nitrates, that will be relieved by water changes......

I was all about trying to lend a hand and help out up until I read the last statement.

But from the sound of that it looks like you got it all figured out.

hope u have a great tank

hope i didn't sound too arrogant, still want to wait before i deem it a success. tanks can go thru mini cycles as well even months later. i'm just gonna keep an eye on it and still test more a few days again. this is still new too me, and haven't had much luck with it before...

ur tank may seem cycle but sometihng it not.. i did that once and thought my tank was cycle after 1 month of running it.. put fish in and boom the next morning my fish went bye bye!! i thought it was cycle from all the reading and all, but i thought wrong.. so deeboi; i dink you should listen to the MFKer in this thread.. they know alot.. i dont want you to go throught the diaster i went through.. i lost knight goby and cichlids.. that not alot, but u will lose alot if your tank is not fully cycled.. how long did you have it running with the filter and all.
