I have been in Belize for the past month or so and just wanted to share some of the animals I have found. This is just from looking around the bushes of the field station so I have not got as much as I would have liked but I am not complaining either.
Leptophis mexicanus
Agalychnis callidryas
Hypopachus variolosus
Smilisca bandinii
Norops lemurinus
Trachycephalus venulosus
Coleonyx elegans
Crocodylus moreltii- we caught this guy too but I had to put of the camera and focus on holding this beast down.
Hyla picta
Indicilius valliceps
Ctenosaura similis
Leptodira septentrionalis
Bothrops asper
There were more herps that I found but I did not get pictures of. Some of my colleagues have photos of them though so I will post them if I can get a hold of those photos. In the mean time- here are some awesome non-herp species that I have found.
Yes- we not only saw a jaguar but we also caught one (for the study we are doing here)- This was after we released it and the drugs were wearing off.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, enjoy!
